Help Is Available. Survivors and their families are not without support in navigating the financial impacts of abuse. The Navajo County Family Advocacy Center and the Navajo County Attorney’s Office Victim Services Department employ victim advocates who connect victims and their families with myriad resources and organizations that can help offset some of the financial strain experienced in the aftermath of abuse. The Navajo County Crime Victim Compensation Board approves funds to reimburse survivors’ abuse-related expenses. Prosecutors in the Navajo County Attorney’s Office also work with victims to seek restitution through the courts for existing and sometimes future financial costs associated with criminal abuse cases. Numerous individuals and departments within Navajo County are dedicated to helping alleviate this little-discussed element of child sexual abuse.
